The Alf Museum’s collections are available for study during regular weekday museum hours (Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm). Arrangements can be made by contacting curator Andy Farke via email (firstname.lastname@example.org). In order to best accommodate your research needs, we advise that collections visit requests be made at least one week in advance. We are happy to assist with any queries as to the types of specimens in the collection that may be of interest for your research.
If your research activities involve molding, consumptive sampling (e.g., paleohistology or isotopic sampling), or other potentially “unusual” techniques, advanced notice is required. Particularly for specimens from federally managed lands, additional documentation and consultation may be necessary, so please allow adequate time (a minimum of 1-2 months) to make arrangements.
Collections advisory: The collection will be unavailable for research visitors and loans from May 20–July 3, 2017. During this time, we are installing high density mobile storage (“compactors”) and additional cabinets to improve long-term conservation and specimen access.
